FAQ / SERVICES
Answers on scope, delivery, and AI readiness
Get clear, practical details on how Sugar Mill Software runs engagements—from discovery and timelines to pricing, NDAs, and change control—so you can move forward with confidence.
Q-01
How do you scope a custom software project?
We start with a short intake and a working session to understand users, workflows, data, constraints, and success metrics. You’ll receive a written scope with deliverables, assumptions, milestones, and acceptance criteria before development begins.
Q-03
What’s the typical timeline for delivery?
Most projects run 6–12 weeks for an MVP or a focused automation, with work delivered in weekly increments. Larger builds are staged into phases, each with a demo, QA window, and sign-off so progress stays visible and predictable.
Q-05
Do you build, advise, or both?
Both. We can act as a hands-on engineering team, a technical lead supporting your internal developers, or a business/AI advisor to shape strategy and execution. We’ll recommend the lightest model that achieves your outcome and budget.
Q-02
How do you price engagements?
We typically use fixed-fee pricing tied to an agreed scope, with a clear breakdown by phase and deliverable. For ongoing product work or support, we also offer monthly retainers. Either way, you’ll know the cost and cadence up front.
Q-04
Can you work under an NDA?
Yes—mutual NDAs are standard. We’ll sign before detailed discovery so you can share sensitive context freely. We also follow least-privilege access, segregate client data, and document handling expectations as part of project kickoff.
Q-06
What if requirements change mid-project?
Change is normal; surprises aren’t. If scope shifts, we write a change note that lists what’s added/removed, schedule impact, and cost impact. Work only proceeds after you approve—so you keep control of priorities and spend.
